Laurence Campling - Songs From the Den: Alas Alack Alay
Переглядів 84Рік тому
Alas Alack Alay I've seen all kinds of chaos today Our life and times in disarray Shake the tree right down to the roots And down comes all the fruit Down comes all the fruit So runs the world away As the Bard would say Alas alack alay. Who knows how long it will take Or when the bending bough will break? A bitter wind blows out of the west And does its very best To tear down every nest So runs...

Sailing Lake Ontario 1970
Переглядів 976 років тому
8mm home movie footage of sailing on Lake Ontario with my family in 1970 when I was 13, including sailing on the St. Lawrence II, a brigantine designed by my uncle Francis. Dad accidentally double-exposed the film, with interesting results. Music by Michael Tippett, one of his favorite composers.

21:00 straight into work mode
Warm, obliging, empathetic, chatty and sociable. Not many legends have this humility.
Good grief, I'd melt ☺️ I've adored this beautiful creature for 52 years
It’s cool seeing how animated he is. In older music videos and photography you rarely see him do much with his face, which makes these interviews so jarring yet so awesome.
God Bless David Bowie, what a Beautiful Man
Great you get him at the only album I detest😝
Un gigante, immenso
my favorite band I want to meet the lead singer one day......
"cause you don't really love me, you just keep me hanging on." Hope Kim Wilde got some of the publishing.
I wonder what ever became of Alex?? These were some awesome times.
Boy George forever on style look a bealthifor simpáticos
love it!!
So, I'm at the 22 mim Mark and I guess what happened is that we had a song contest is that what happened & this kid was the winner? I appreciate anyone's reply 🙏
That's correct. www.mtv.com/news/4czig3/bowie-chooses-winner-of-songwriting-contest.
This man literally was and wasn't a "Rolling Stone".
I remember all the silly animal-shaped USB flash drives that were around back then. My family and even my school had a couple of them that got passed around. I used to laugh about the fact that the USB mini-B port looked like a butthole. I was 14 back then. Actually I still laugh about that. I know, I never grew up.
David's positive attitude to the future would be totally shattered now it's 2023 and total chaos.
Well, he was not very positive during 'Heathen' (2002)...
Can anyone please tell me what his site is called? Love Bowie 😂
So bad to see him smoking 😪
Oh for goodness sake, grow up
@joethelion6016 Grow up? 🤣🤣 Oh for goodness sake 🤣🤣 fcuking paedo.
@@joethelion6016 Joe the fuckin lion. Weapon. Keep your inane replies to yourself

Excellent - methinks Richard Thompson might buy that one off you, Laurence!
excellent
I thought you might enjoy the Shakespeare quotes and allusions and weather/political turmoil metaphors.
RIP sakamoto ryuichi we never forget you
Superb!
29:15 oh my that impression is amazing, DB’s voice is unrecognisable!
well this is definitely foreshadowing
Aw, I can practically feel Alex's nervousness through my computer screen, poor dude. I love how Bowie greets him with "hello, collaborator!" and does a silly bit with the camera to break the ice.
I went there as a small boy, vaguely remember it. It was a grown up thing. I remember visiting Gillhooly’s house briefly and Arneson. Long time ago
I love this laugh!! I wish there was more video of him recording other songs, too. Wonderful to watch him work.
1:38
Why is the viewing angle so crooked?
I tried to steal for me
he made this tune catchy very quick
That was fun!
I just love his laugh!! Not only is he really interesting to listen to in an interview, he is quite funny!!! He has a wonderful sense of humor!!
He is just so attractive 😍 I wish I could remember what you call the condition David Bowie has, actually it is quite common. He has two different colored eyes. His right eye is a beautiful green, and his left eye is brown. For the life of me I can't remember what it is called??? I think he has beautiful eyes and I think that they totally go with his amazing personality!!! I think God knew that David Bowie was definitely going to be something very special and unique, so I think that his beautiful eyes go with his unique talent!!! Plus they are so beautiful 😍
The condition you’re thinking about is vitiligo, and I’m pretty sure that he doesn’t have it(but as a green eyed person people with light eyes our eyes change colour a lot) he actually got punched in the eye when he was young which severed a nerve and holds his pupil wide open, making it seem darker
He's handsome with this hair!!!
Thank you
Non ho capito nulla di quello che ha detto, ma com’era bello che sorriso aveva
Thank you for this warm and generous documentary. David Gilhooly was my art professor at Davis. I still have one of his Candy Store postcards from the 70’s. So fine to see the Davis and Sac State and Folsom art world come to life again with the stories of those who made it happen. What a labor of love.
this is still the best!
